When Jay Nepal began its operations in Bodgaun, the local youth invited the organization's
founder, Alberto Luzzi, to watch a football match. However, the match took place on the
riverbank, highlighting the lack of suitable facilities despite the community's strong
interest in football. This deeply moved Alberto, and Jay Nepal decided to build a sports
center in Bodgaun, addressing the need for a proper football ground and supporting the
youth's passion for sports.
The situation of young people, already difficult due to severe poverty, a total lack of
services, alcoholism, and early marriages, has significantly worsened over the past two
years. Recently, the use of drug cocktails mixed with psychotropic medications has been
spreading. These have a very low cost even for this population (approximately 85 euro cents
for a box of psychotropic drugs containing up to 30 pills, for which almost no pharmacy asks
for a prescription). When taken with alcohol or marijuana, these medications create a heavy
form of intoxication, sought after and commonly practiced, especially after returning from
work in the stone and sand quarries.
In these villages, children up to the age of 11-12 are unaware of their condition. Not knowing any other world, they adapt to living in their current situation. The biggest problems start to arise as they grow older and begin to realize that there is another, unreachable world, leading them to measure their harsh reality. For girls, this means working in the fields, which is extremely strenuous because it is entirely manual and lacks machinery. As a result, young girls develop fertility issues, maternal health problems, and chronic conditions like arthritis in their legs and back, with a high incidence of early uterine prolapse. Often, as previously mentioned, girls are given in marriage at a young age in arranged marriages.
For boys, starting from the age of 14-15, the main work is in the quarries, which has severe health consequences and leads to the spread of drug use. After returning from the arduous work, there are no activities within the village to counteract this trend.
By creating this sports center, Jay Nepal not only provides a safe and suitable place for the youth to play but also addresses critical health issues within the community. This initiative is more than just about building a facility; it is about creating a beacon of hope and opportunity, promoting overall well-being and sustainable growth for the youth of Bodgaun.
Now, Jay Nepal has built a sports center in the village of Bodgaun. This center features a football ground, a volleyball court, a cinema hall, a cafeteria, shower facilities, and a dedicated area for hygiene and sanitation. Additionally, it includes a small physical fitness center equipped with various gym components.
The sports center in Bodgaun is not just a place for athletic activities; it is a multi-functional facility designed to cater to the diverse needs of the community. The football and volleyball grounds provide spaces for organized sports, promoting teamwork and physical health. The cinema hall offers a venue for educational screenings and community gatherings, fostering social cohesion and cultural enrichment.
The cafeteria ensures that players and visitors have access to nutritious food, supporting
overall well-being. Shower and sanitation facilities promote hygiene, crucial for the health
of the athletes. The physical fitness center encourages regular exercise, contributing to
both physical and mental health.
This comprehensive approach makes the sports center a cornerstone of community development
in Bodgaun, addressing multiple aspects of well-being and creating a supportive environment
for the youth and the wider community to thrive.
In addition to the sports center in Bodgaun, Jay Nepal has built a football ground in Ward 9 of Indrawati Rural Municipality in collaboration with the local government. This facility, located on a picturesque hill overlooking the Indrawati River, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, providing a stunning backdrop for community events.
The journey to create this football ground is a story of perseverance and renewed hope. The
project began ten years ago but remained incomplete, leaving the community disheartened and
ready to abandon their dreams of having a proper sports facility. When Jay Nepal learned
about this situation, the organization's founder, driven by a strong commitment to community
upliftment, stepped in to assist. Through this partnership with the local government, Jay
Nepal helped to finally bring the football ground to completion.
Recently inaugurated, this football ground now serves as a vibrant hub for both men's and
women's tournaments, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for all athletes. The
facility not only provides a place for physical activity and competition but also fosters
community engagement and social interaction.
By completing this football ground, Jay Nepal has given the community a renewed sense of
hope and pride. This initiative underscores the organization's dedication to creating
positive, lasting change and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Ward 9.
In addition to building physical infrastructure, Jay Nepal, is dedicated to creating a comprehensive and sustainable sports program for the communities it serves. Recognizing that facilities alone are not enough to foster true development and growth, Jay Nepal implements systematic training programs led by certified coaches. These coaches are highly qualified and have affiliations with official football clubs in the nation, ensuring that the training provided meets professional standards.
Jay Nepal's training programs are meticulously designed to cater to different demographics, offering separate sessions for males and females and tailoring programs to various age groups. This approach ensures that all participants receive age-appropriate training that meets their specific needs and skill levels. By providing structured training sessions, Jay Nepal not only enhances the physical abilities of the participants but also instills values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Moreover, Jay Nepal understands the importance of empowering the local community to sustain
and manage these sports initiatives. To this end, the organization provides essential
management tools and training to local residents, enabling them to effectively oversee and
maintain the sports center. This includes guidance on scheduling, event organization,
facility maintenance, and resource management. By equipping the local population with these
skills, Jay Nepal ensures that the sports center remains a thriving and sustainable hub for
community engagement long after the initial construction phase.
Through these comprehensive efforts, Jay Nepal goes beyond merely building sports
facilities. The organization creates vibrant, inclusive environments where community members
can come together, engage in healthy activities, and build lasting relationships. The
systematic training programs and management support provided by Jay Nepal empower
communities to take ownership of these projects, fostering a sense of pride and
responsibility that contributes to the overall well-being and development of the region.
By integrating infrastructure development with professional training and community
management, Jay Nepal ensures that its sports projects have a profound and lasting impact.
These initiatives help nurture young talent, promote gender equality in sports, and provide
a positive outlet for the energy and aspirations of the youth. In doing so, Jay Nepal not
only enhances the physical health of the participants but also strengthens the social fabric
of the communities it serves.
