When you rebuild something you have the chance to make things BETTER than they used to be and the commitment to transforming people’s needs into opportunities is an essential prerequisite for it.
Jay Nepal’s community sewing workshop started from a scouting trip to Sindhupalchowk to find what the residents of the community needed most, and one of the most requested items was mosquito nets.
That was the opportunity for the creation of a sewing workshop training program, which would enable local women to produce not only the mosquito protection nets for their own community, but with the idea of producing other more commercial items that could be sold even abroad. As a result a team of 8 women have formed a product development team who will work to bring other forms of livelihood to the village.
